Yoga for Peacemaking: Evenings of Peace and Reflection
Yoga for Peacemaking offers a unique space for inner contemplation, using movement, breath, and mindfulness to cultivate a deep sense of peace within ourselves and our communities. This practice is not only about physical well-being but also about fostering an inner connection to peace that we can extend outward, helping to create a more peaceful world. By nurturing peace in our own hearts, we become better equipped to spread peace in our relationships and communities.
Rooted in ancient traditions, Yoga for Peacemaking reminds us of the deep interconnection between all things. As Joanna Macy writes, “There is no healing or transformation without connection.” When we bring awareness to our breath, compassion to our movements, and presence to the moment, we honor this connection to ourselves and to the world around us. Through these practices, we embody the essence of peacemaking, one breath, and one movement at a time.
Our hour-long sessions, led by Zoya Kobets, certified Yoga instructor, will focus on themes of interdependence, loving-kindness, compassion, and presence. This beginner-friendly program is open to all, with blocks, straps, and bolsters provided for your comfort. We encourage you to bring a mat, towel, or blanket for additional stability.
Note: Yoga for Peacemaking is part of our Evenings of Peace and Reflection. You are welcome to stay afterwards for Contemplative Prayer, an hour of silent meditation that complements the inner peace cultivated during yoga.
Join us every second and fourth Thursday of the month for this peaceful practice. All are welcome.
